What's HEXt?
Note: This game is kind of a disaster, couldn't get it all done and did very little testing :D
Description
This game was made for the Brackey's 2025 Game Jam. The theme was "Nothing Can Go Wrong." If I properly made the game, I think it would have fit the theme pretty well, but this was rough.
Idea
My main idea was to have this hex world that is evolving with your cards and random modifications of the world. As time goes on, you would have to select between these items that change how you play your cards. They slowly stack on each other, and soon it becomes very challenging to manage your deck due to all the limits you have selected for yourself.
Reflect
I really like my core idea for this game, but I don't think I executed it very well. There was just too many mechanics to get going for a short jam. We'll get em next time!
I didn't even add sound effects or a menu system lol.
Time
I probs spend 12 hours working on it in the first 6 days and like 18 hours on Saturday :/
Known Bugs
1. SOFT LOCK - After turn 25+ there is a chance for next turn to longer work, and the game is stuck - this is because "shuffling" the deck ends up with a segfault or something.
2. Tiles where units die become tiles were nothing can be played on them anymore
3. Enemies can sometimes end up moving onto the same tile
4. The whole tile restriction thing that comes up every 8 turns has some bugs where the restrictions don't implement themselves properly
5. You can see the health of enemies behind the fog of war if you hover over it
6. The turn indicator says "Text" instead of "Turn" :)
7. The UI in general is whack, I always have problems with HTML5 game uploads.
